Exploring Membership & Confirmation
Are you curious about what it means to formally call Harbor Anglican home? Whether you're new or have been with us for a while, membership and confirmation are meaningful steps we invite folks to explore each fall. As we approach the summer months, we invite you to read and consider the Rev. Casey Bedell's invitation to learn more about what's involved as things pick back up in the fall.
Parish Council Nominations Are Open
Each fall at our annual parish meeting, we elect new members to serve on the Parish Council. Between now and September 6th, we are receiving nominations from the congregation for those you believe would serve Harbor Anglican well in this role.
If someone comes to mind, please email the Parish Council directly rather than the person you are nominating. This allows us to approach each candidate with care and discretion during our September-October vetting process. The Parish Council will decide the final slate of nominees, and then we'll introduce the slate of nominees a few weeks ahead of the annual meeting in November.
Resurrection Feasting on Harbor’s Seventh Birthday
This Easter Sunday, Harbor Anglican will mark seven years of public worship and what better day to celebrate than the Feast of the Resurrection.
Seven is a highly symbolic throughout Scripture: God rested on the seventh day; Israel marched seven times around Jericho; priests sprinkled blood seven times before the Lord in the tabernacle rituals; major feasts last seven days;
More Than a Vibe: Why Thick is Better than Thin
Inspired by The Beatles’ Eleanor Rigby, below are five somewhat “off-the-hip” reasons to consider joining a Harbor Group. Much more could be said, but think of this as a small priming of the pump—a way of cultivating the kind of communal imagination Scripture assumes is normal for the people of God.
How to Help Combat Sex Slavery on Aurora and During the FIFA World Cup
Seattle has the country's second most prolific sex trafficking market in the country on Aurora Ave N., and The World Cup, happening in Seattle June–July 2026, is the world's largest sex trafficking event.
A Simple Primer on Advent
On the first Sunday of Advent, we cross a threshold into a new liturgical year—Year A, according to the Book of Common Prayer. This season at Harbor, our worship will draw us deeply into the prophetic witness of Isaiah, whose ministry to God’s ancient people carried the strange and beautiful weight of what Fr. Alexander Schmemann called “bright sadness.”
Preparing for Annual Parish Meeting
Dear Harbor Family,
This year, Harbor Anglican’s annual parish meeting will take place on Sunday, November 16th. As we look toward this important gathering, our desire has been to prepare every member well in advance by sharing three key things: the Parish Council’s proposed budget, the nominees for Parish Council, and a clear sense of the Council’s role alongside yours as members of the congregation.
Faith & Vocation: Mark Ellefson
Based on a Barna study only 45% of monthly church-goers say they felt a strong sense of support in their career from their church. At Harbor Anglican we want to see that change. As part of a year long project focused on faith and vocation we are highlighting various parishioners by having them answer seven questions.
Parish Council Nominee | Anne Philpot
On November 16th the following individual will be put before the congregation as a slate to be voted on to be added to the Parish Council.
Joining Sunday | Jesus With Thy Church Abide
On Sunday, November 2nd, we will gather for a joyful moment in the life of our parish—Joining Sunday—as we welcome new members into the life and fellowship of Harbor Anglican. Membership in the Church is never merely administrative; it’s deeply relational and profoundly spiritual. It’s about saying yes—yes to God’s call, yes to His people, and yes to participating in His ongoing work of renewal in the world through the Body of Christ.
Faith & Vocation: Zoe Hoster
Based on a Barna study only 45% of monthly church-goers say they felt a strong sense of support in their career from their church. At Harbor Anglican we want to see that change. Harbor Groups are back!
Harbor Groups are returning this fall!
During the week we desire the people of Harbor to meet together with intentionality, seeking to put into practice in the world what we experienced in the sanctuary. Harbor Groups are smaller groups for the people who worship with Harbor Anglican on Sundays. In these smaller groups we allow our experience of the gospel through Sunday’s liturgy to shape our everyday liturgies.
Feast & Formation Series
This fall, we’re launching Feast & Formation, a series of classes that will take place after worship, combining learning together and a potluck meal. We believe something sacred happens when we both learn and eat together, and so our hope is that this rhythm will nurture us both body and soul.
Ministry & Mission Evaluation Summary
This past season, we invited our church family to participate in a ministry and mission survey—a chance to honestly reflect, celebrate, and discern together. Out of about 100 people who regularly walk with us at Harbor, 25 responded. While that number is modest, each voice carried the weight of love, hope, and a shared desire to see our church flourish. We see this as a snapshot rather than the full picture. A small but meaningful window into the heart of our community.
New Vestry Members & Congregational Meeting
The Parish Council has begun preparing for our annual parish meeting, which will be held on Sunday in November (exact date TBD). This gathering is an important moment in the life of our church—a time to reflect on the Lord’s faithfulness, attend to the practical matters of our shared life, and look forward together with hope and purpose.
Rector’s Letter | September 2025
I’m looking forward to being back with you this Sunday! The Bedell family has missed the saints of Harbor Anglican.
As summer turns to fall, the Parish Council and I are excited for the season ahead. Over the next week, you’ll hear more about our Harbor Groups, updates on ministry opportunities, plans for the Annual Congregational Meeting and the process for nominating and electing new vestry members.

Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network
With so many immigrants and refugees in our communities (and an overwhelming number of them Christians), it’s deeply concerning how many are being deported without due process—especially those who are here legally. To care for our brothers and sisters of different tongues, we’d like to draw your attention to Washington Immigrant Solidarity (WAISN), the largest immigrant justice group in Washington. It fights for the rights of immigrants and refugees statewide.
