Ministry & Mission Evaluation Summary
September 2025
Dear Beloved Harbor Family,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This past season, we invited our church family to participate in a ministry and mission survey—a chance to honestly reflect, celebrate, and discern together. Out of about 100 people who regularly walk with us at Harbor, 25 responded. While that number is modest, each voice carried the weight of love, hope, and a shared desire to see our church flourish. We see this as a snapshot rather than the full picture. A small but meaningful window into the heart of our community.
Who We Heard From
Most respondents have journeyed with Harbor for 3–5 years, mostly coming from neighborhoods within Seattle—but we have a growing group from Kirkland to Puyallup. The longevity and distance traveled speak to how deeply Harbor matters to you—and how rooted this church has become for many.
Celebrating Our Strengths
Your responses reflected joy, gratitude, and love for Harbor. Common threads include:
Community Life – Parish Council, Sunday worship, and Harbor Groups were highlighted as meaningful points of belonging and spiritual formation.
Leadership & Preaching – Pastor Casey’s thoughtful and relevant preaching was named repeatedly as a strength.
Staff Care – Katlyn’s presence was especially celebrated; several mentioned how she’s already made a deep impact through her leadership and warmth.
Worship & Music – Ross’s musical leadership and our Anglican liturgy are sources of deep spiritual nourishment.
Connection to the Diocese – Many shared appreciation for our place within a broader Anglican family—and even applauded our website (thank you, Beka Johnson!)
Area of Growth | A Heart for Discipleship
Several comments hinted at or directly named a longing for deeper discipleship. While Sunday worship is strong, there's a hunger for more structured opportunities to grow in faith, ask hard questions, and walk closely with others in the way of Jesus. Harbor Groups have been a good start—but some are wondering, what’s next?
This is a holy invitation. It reminds us that discipleship is not accidental—it must be cultivated. Your feedback encourages us to explore how Harbor might more clearly guide people from visitor to rooted disciple, in a way that’s accessible and grounded in grace.
Other Areas for Growth
With care and candor, you named other areas we want to take seriously:
Clearer Communication – People asked for more clarity around how to get connected and involved.
Midweek Engagement – Some expressed a desire for more regular touch-points beyond Sunday.
Greater pastoral support – A few noted there may be a need for additional staff to prevent burnout and help speak to the congregation’s span of life stages and experiences.
Where We Go From Here
These responses are not the end of the conversation—they’re an invitation into deeper listening. As the Parish Council and leadership reflect on this together, we do so with gratitude for your honesty and love for the church. If you didn’t have a chance to share, please know your story and presence still matter deeply.
Harbor is not perfect—but it is deeply loved. Let us keep moving together toward Christ, and toward one another.
With affection and hope,
The Parish Council (Dave Andersen, Julie Bettis, Scott Barnes, Sophie Hamby, Raquel Bolender, & Casey Bedell)
